A SPACE BETWEEN US

A SPACE BETWEEN US

A small relational therapy group exploring self-awareness, connection and the experience of being with others.

In person in Guildford | Starting October | 6 participants | weekly

What happens when we are with other people?

We all have ways of being with others.

Some of us move towards connection easily. Some of us hold back. Some of us adapt, take care of others, become quiet, or need space and distance.

Often these ways of relating happen so quickly that we don’t notice them as they are happening.

In this group, we slow things down.

We begin to notice what is actually happening in the moment — in you, in others, and in the space between you.

This is where the work of the group lives.

It is not only about talking about relationships, but about experiencing them as they unfold here and now.

You might begin to notice:

   •    how you respond to closeness and distance
   •    what happens when you feel seen, misunderstood or uncertain
   •    how you communicate your needs (or don’t)
   •    when it feels easy or difficult to express yourself
   •    the ways you move towards, away from, or around others
   •    what happens when someone responds differently from what you expect
   •    what helps you feel safe enough to be yourself
   •    how you might have more choice in how you relate

There is no need to arrive with anything prepared.

You don’t need to be confident in groups, particularly outgoing, or experienced in therapy.

You might be someone who is more comfortable listening than speaking. You might find social situations tiring or overwhelming at times. You might simply be curious about relationships that feel more real, more honest, or more alive.

You are welcome exactly as you.

Safety

A small and contained group

There will be 6 participants, and the group will remain closed so the same people stay together throughout.

We meet for a minimum of 6 months.

This allows trust to develop slowly, and for relationships within the group to become something we can work with over time.

There is no pressure to perform or to speak for the sake of speaking.

You are invited to notice your experience — whether that is spoken, felt, or held quietly.

Sometimes what happens in silence is just as important as what is said.

My presence in the group

I am interested in what happens between people in real time — not just what is spoken about, but what is felt, sensed, and communicated in the room.

I bring a calm, steady and attentive presence.

I tend to notice the quieter layers of experience: shifts in energy, moments of contact or withdrawal, what is happening in the space between people.

I won’t rush to interpret or explain what is happening.

Instead, I aim to stay with what is emerging, so that you have space to become more aware of your own experience and what feels true for you.

The group is held with warmth, curiosity and clear boundaries, so that it can feel both open and safe enough for real exploration.

Who might the group be for?

This group may be helpful if you:

   •    want to understand yourself more deeply in relationship with others
   •    are curious about your patterns in connection
   •    often find yourself observing rather than speaking
   •    sometimes struggle to express what you need
   •    want closeness without losing your sense of self
   •    are interested in what happens in the present moment between people
   •    would like to be part of a small, consistent and confidential group

You don’t need to fit a particular type of person.

What matters is curiosity — about yourself, and about how you are with others..
